Student Travel Awards

The National Institutes of Health grant that supports GAW provides funds for a number of travel scholarships to help defray costs of workshop participation. Awards will be offered to students and post-docs who are first author on a GAW20 contribution and to faculty from developing countries who are first or last author on a contribution. To reflect differing travel costs, awards will be $900 for participants from North America and $1100 for those coming from other regions. Students and post-docs must submit a letter from a faculty sponsor nominating them for a travel award. Faculty from developing countries may apply by sending a brief (one paragraph) description of the project they are working on for GAW20. Applications should be emailed to by January 9, 2017, with the subject “GAW20 travel award”. If there are more requests for travel awards than can be funded, recipients will be selected by lottery. Recipients of travel awards will be notified by January 20, 2017, so that they have plenty of time to make their travel arrangements. Note that the awards are contingent on the awardee submitting a GAW20 contribution by the February 2nd deadline.
