Subject:   GAW16 Problem 2 and 3 updates

1) The problem 2 and 3 data (phenotypes and 550K SNPs from the Framingham Heart Study and 200 replicates of phenotypes simulated on the basis of the Framingham genotype data) are now available at dbGaP:

http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/sites/entrez?db=gap

On that web page, there is a link for "GAW16 Framingham and Simulated Data". You may apply for both data sets with a single application and multiple projects from the same institution may be covered by a single application. However, if you are working with colleagues from another institution, each institution must submit a separate application for the data to dbGaP.

2) Also on dbGaP and posted on the GAW web site (http://www.gaworkshop.org) are templates of the research plan and the computer security plan that are required in dbGaP applications. You will need to modify the research plan to indicate whether you are applying for problem 2 data, problem 3 data, or both. Otherwise you may use that plan as-is or you are free to modify it to be more specific to your project. The computer security plan template contains an outline of the issues that should be addressed in your security plan.

3) A readme describing the problem 3 simulated is now available on the GAW web site.
